Award Winning Chef

Chris Dickson, who was named the Lancaster Guardian’s Top Chef of the Year, has previously worked at Thurnham Hall Country Club in Lancaster and the Miller Howe Hotel in Windermere, the latter owned by master chef John Tovey.  While at Miller Howe, he took part in cooking roadshows around the country and worked with Delia Smith for several months.  He was also chef at the Castle Hotel in Hornby where within the first six months he earned the restaurant a coveted entry in the Good Food Guide.

During the same period he also gained two prestigious AA rosettes for the restaurant, one of only two restaurants in Lancashire to have them.

He writes a regular food column for the Lancaster Guardian and the Morecambe Visitor, as well as contributing recipes to the Lancashire Evening Post, Bay Radio and BBC Radio Lancashire. In addition, Chris has made several TV appearances.

Chris also found himself the subject of a feature on regional news programme Granada Reports, which followed him as he returned to his old high school in Morecambe.  He’d left there with no qualifications many years earlier, subsequently passing his NVQ at Lancaster and Morecambe College in 1992.   For the programme, he was filmed returning to his old school as a successful chef and giving a special cookery lesson for the pupils.
